McCain Doesn’t Get It

From CNN’s Political Ticker comes this gem from the McCain campaign:
John McCain said Thursday that Barack Obama’s poll numbers are rising as the economy seems to sink “because life isn’t fair.”
“He certainly did nothing for the first few days,” McCain told Fox News Thursday. “I suspended my campaign, took our ads down, came back to Washington, met with the House folks and got on the phone, and also had face-to-face meetings.”
Memo to John McCain: This economic crisis didn’t originate in the past “few days.” Your recent political posturing and newfound fondness for regulation can’t possibly counteract the past twenty-six years of Republican-led economic deregulation that actually caused this mess. How can you claim that this short-sighted reactive response is “leadership?” Not to mention that your campaign “suspension” didn’t seem to do a whole lot of good in brokering a deal in congress. So while life may not be fair, I think in this case the voters are quite fairly affixing blame exactly where it belongs.
