Electronic Voting in El Paso County
Sep 29th, 2008 by nick
I wrote last week about problems with Diebold’s electronic voting machines, and about the shenanigans of El Paso County Clerk and Recorder Bob Balink. These seemingly unrelated stories came together for me last weekend when I read about John Gardner in the Colorado Springs Independent. Evidently Gardner, who is in charge of our electronic voting machines (made by Diebold, of course), put wildly conflicting information about his college degree, or lack thereof, on various different job applications. The University from which he supposedly earned a degree has no record of him doing so. Bob Balink, of course, doesn’t seem concerned. Luckily, Colorado requires a Voter-Verified Paper Record of votes. Let’s hope Balink and Gardner know that.
