Anti-Evolution Idiocy

A school board in Florida has adopted a resolution (pdf link — scroll down to section 6.01) for,
“…the Florida Department of Education to revise/edit the new Sunshine State Standards for Science so that evolution is presented as one of several theories as to how the universe was formed.”
Last I checked, the theory of evolution had absolutely nothing to do with the formation of the universe. Evolution is a biological theory that explains changes in population over time. The formation of the universe is generally considered the domain of physicists, and occurred long before life on earth began.
The irony is comical: the purported educators on this school board don’t even understand evolution well enough to properly describe their objections to it! This ignorance of these elected leaders is the best evidence for the need for comprehensive science education, including evolution of course.
